About

Robin and Lauren Swayze are a mother and daughter team who in 2009 decided to walk in the steps of Julie from Julie and Julia and take on a culinary adventure. Our mission was to eat out at a different restaurant in Boston once a week for one year.  We easily and with great enthusiasm completed that “challenge”. There are so many great choices of wonderful restaurants in Boston and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with Lauren and eat good food. In addition to what is now the occasional restaurant review, this blog now includes many recipes from my year at Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, cooking with good friend Elizabeth Canny, cooking adventures while at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California and at The Market Restaurant in Annisquam, Ma. Hope you enjoy my journey!

Hi Robin, this is great!! I’d love to join you on a Thursday night. I do some work with North Shore Dish, another great North Shore blogsite. I also ran into your son when I was up at UVM, he was visiting there. Hope to reunite soon!

I’ve always had a keen interest in and find myself gravitating to good food, recipes, restaurants and so I’m delighted to read about your adventures and look forward to learning all about new experiences, places to try, and ideas for making a sensational dish or two – What a fun endeavor!

I just read this blog for the first time and am intrigued. One suggestion would be to put the address of the restaurant in the blog entry so we don’t have to look it up. I may have missed it, but couldn’t find an address for the bakery in Brookline unless I went on-line to get it.

Thanks for doing this. I can smell the croissants already.

Robin: I particularly liked the first scene with the snow coming down. Makes me ALMOST wish I was there. I love seeing the pictures of all of you and your travels to Spain to see Charlie. The recipies will inspire me to do some cooking. That brie, apple and arugula quesadilla looks soooo good, and I look forward to hunting down that bread store in Brookline. Don’t get buried in snow! Hi Robin & Lauren,

I recently subscribed to your blog and I love it. Food is a huge tie with my mother and I as well. I would love for her to live closer so we could go on the culinary adventures you do!

I just started working with an organization called Meal4Meal (www.meal4meal.com). It is basically where Groupon meets Tom’s Shoes – with each restaurant deal sold, we will donate 4 meals to The Greater Boston Food Bank. More importantly, we are trying to recruit 5ish bloggers to be featured on our site as part of the Boston restaurant community. We would simply be creating a live RSS feed of these blogs on our site, no additional work required. There would also be no contract or requirements to write about Meal4Meal, just everything you are already doing. I thought the two of you would be perfect!

Our first deal is scheduled for May 10th with Max & Dylans and we are having a launch party at The Greater Boston Food Bank. I would love for you to join us! http://meal4meallaunch.eventbrite.com/ It will give you a better idea of all that we are about.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers!
    Caitlin

Hi! I can’t find your email address and would like to invite you to a Boston Bloggers Event in December – food related, of course!

  17. Hi Robin! I’m so excited to find this! I just heard about your site from Pamela Bakos, who I met last week. Can’t wait to find some great restaurants from your blog. Such a fun idea! How was Chez Panisse?! If you’re open to it, I’d love to join you one of these Thursdays. Would be great to hear what you’re up to and how Berkeley was! I’ll be going in April!

    Best,
    Sheila
